If you have kids that need rides back and forth from school, soccer and music lessons, these pets will be most likely home without human companionship and will get lonely unless you get at least two dogs.
The cost is usually minimal and they should tell you if the animal has had their shots and what if any medical care has been given. Another option is the people in your local area who have had puppies and need to sell them. A rescue home is a wonderful option to fill the need of overcrowding and allowing a wonderful animal to live instead of face another fate. There are too many unwanted pets which would make a wonderful addition to your home.

What you do not want to do is buy your puppy from a puppy mill or fly-by-night pet store that encourages these pet mills.
